RULES
1. all participants must be 14 years old or older, and minors may not request nor create works rated E. Interaction is not moderated, but please respect the wishes of the creators of these works.
2. the KNH Exchange is run through a gift exchange collection on ao3 and the kusuriya!!! discord server. Therefore, an ao3 and a discord account are needed to participate. If you do not have an ao3 account, we ask that you add yourself to the invitations queue so you'll have one by the time the event begins or by the time posting starts.
3. all participants must sign up via the google form and the exchange collection on ao3. This is also not an application-based event; everyone who signs up gets to participate. In their sign-up, each person makes both a request and an offer.
a) the request includes three prompts for what you would like to receive, as well as your preferred tags and ratings. If you would like to receive either fic or art, make sure you give at least one prompt suitable for each medium. There will be a space where you can input your prompts as well as what you would not like to receive (ex. DNWs).
b) the offer includes all the tags for which you are willing to create as well as a space to provide any additional information that you want the mods to take note of (ex. people you do not want to match to). In your offer, you must specify how much you may or are willing to create (ex. fic with a word count of 1-10k vs 11-50k).
4. everyone is assigned one giftee (a person they are creating for) and one gifter (the person who is creating for them). You will have the time from the announcement of matches to the due date to create a gift based on the prompts you received from your giftee.
a) fics must be at least 1k words long and have a maximum of 50k words with no grace limit. You may not gift a fic above that amount, and you may not gift a fic under 1k words.
b) art must be at least one piece of fully-finished piece in full colour unless your giftee specifies otherwise.
5. participants must submit their work through ao3 by the due date. Your work will be unrevealed and anonymous. Starting on the posting date, works will be gradually revealed while the creators remain anonymous.
6. after all the works have been shared, the creators of the gifts will be revealed simultaneously! Until the reveal, the identities of the creators must remain secret. As such, please don't:
a) advertise or tease the release of your piece on social media with material from said piece.
b) give yourself away to your giftee by talking about your piece openly. If we have enough participants, work groups will be assigned and creators will be able to workshop their pieces with others. If we do not, we ask that you keep workshopping in private chats.
7. please conduct yourself with kindess and respect, and when posting, tag your posts properly, especially for any nsfw, dead dove, or potentially triggering content.
8. all participants must acknowledge their gift in the form of a comment on the posted work. Interactions with the event graphics and/or other posts made by the hosts are not counted towards that.
9. no AI or anything produced by AI is allowed in this event. Plagiarism is counted as a serious offence and participants found to plagiarize or use AI in their gifts will not be allowed to participate if the event runs again in the future.
FAQ
"What pairings am I allowed to request? Is it just canon ships?"
You're free to request content for whatever ship you choose, whether it be romantic or platonic, with the exceptions of those relationships that are "inappropriate" (ie. pedophilic in nature, etc), such as the last emperor/lishu, and others in that category. Or, you can simply choose to not request a gift around a relationship and only a character, that's fine too! Keep in mind that we will be matching by closest compatibility, so you may not get exactly what you wanted."As a creator, do I have to stick closely to the prompts or use all of them?"
You are expected to follow your giftee's prompts, but to what degree can be specified by your giftee in the request."How do I tag when posting on social media?"
As long as you tag the content accurately, you are good! With this event, there is no obligation to tag the account or the hashtag when you post."Do I have to join the discord server to participate in the event?"
